Mr. Alphaeus Kweku Solaga currently serves as the Assistant Registrar (General Administration) at Mount Mary College of Education, Somanya, Ghana. He is an experienced higher education administrator, management scholar and university educator with extensive expertise in business administration, public administration, educational administration, human resource management, institutional governance and organizational leadership. With over two decades of professional experience across basic education, banking, private and public sectors and higher education, he has distinguished himself through exemplary professionalism, ethical leadership, administrative excellence and an unwavering commitment to institutional development.
In his role as Assistant Registrar (General Administration), Mr. Solaga provides strategic administrative leadership and professional support that strengthen the College’s governance and administrative systems. He serves as Secretary to the Academic Board and several sub-committees, he also provides administrative support to key Governing Council committees, facilitating the effective conduct of governance processes and ensuring the efficient implementation of institutional policies, statutory requirements and strategic decisions.
His responsibilities encompass the coordination of general administrative operations, committee administration, policy implementation, institutional records and information management, stakeholder engagement, institutional planning, and the organization of official ceremonies and events. He also contributes significantly to governance and regulatory compliance by supporting the effective functioning of statutory committees and advancing administrative systems that promote accountability, transparency, operational efficiency and continuous institutional improvement.
As part of his broader leadership responsibilities, Mr. Solaga provides administrative oversight for several critical operational units of the College, including the Transport Unit, College Clinic, Works and Development Unit, Security Unit and Estate Unit. In this capacity, he coordinates inter-unit operations, supervises service delivery, monitors operational performance and ensures that these essential support services effectively contribute to the College’s academic mission and administrative objectives.
Beyond his routine administrative functions, Mr. Solaga plays an active role in institutional transformation initiatives aimed at enhancing organisational effectiveness, strengthening governance structures, improving service delivery, and driving operational excellence. His commitment to innovation, sound governance, quality assurance, and continuous improvement has made him an important contributor to the College’s strategic growth and long-term institutional development. He has also served as Acting Registrar on several occasions, demonstrating sound judgement, administrative competence and an in-depth understanding of higher education governance and leadership.
Mr. Solaga holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Ghana, a Master of Educational Administrationfrom the University of Cape Coast, a Bachelor of Science in Administration (Accounting Option) and a Diploma in Education from the University of Education, Winneba, as well as a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy. He has successfully completed Level One of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) qualification and is a proud Member of the Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultants (CIAMC).
Committed to lifelong learning and professional excellence, Mr. Solaga has participated in numerous executive and professional development programmes in leadership, organisational management, research, institutional capacity building, and digital workplace competencies. His continuous professional development also includes specialised training in virtual assistance, professional foundations and other emerging areas that enhance administrative effectiveness in contemporary higher education institutions.
Beyond his administrative leadership, Mr. Solaga serves as a Part-Time Lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba (College for Distance and e-Learning), where he teaches courses in Human Resource Management, Strategic Management, Business Research Methods, Labour Relations, Principles of Business Management, Introduction to Business Management, Project Management and related management disciplines. He also serves as an Assessor for the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) examinations, contributing to academic quality assurance and the maintenance of assessment standards within the University’s undergraduate programmes.
His academic and professional interests include higher education administration, public sector governance, ethical leadership, organisational development, human resource management, performance management, public policy and institutional effectiveness. Through his teaching, and administrative practice, he continues to contribute to knowledge creation, policy development and the advancement of good governance within higher education.
